If the insured party holds an international license, there is no problem. If the license is valid only in his/her home country, then it’s up to the company to decide if it will proceed with the insurance or not.

You should call the police to report the incident. If you haven’t got the registration number (plates) of the car that caused the accident, your insurance company cannot reimburse you.

If your car or any vehicle is uninsured, then the penalties provided under laws N489/76 and N2741/99 are:

1. Vehicle Circulation: One (1)-year suspension of license plates and registration.
2. Cause of Accident: One (1)-year suspension of license plates and registration.
3. Relapse: Three (3)-year suspension of license plates and registration.
4. Fine: € 1.000 for buses and trucks of public use, € 500 for cars and € 250 for two-wheel vehicles.

Of course you can. But you need to submit your insurance badge to your current insurance company along with a formal letter requesting insurance termination, in order for you to receive unearned premiums. Then you can select the insurance company of your choice.

You should contact your insurance company or your insurance agent and request reissuing, after submitting an affidavit stating that your policy has been lost.

In case of accident you should call the number indicated on the special accident care card that most insurance companies give you along with your insurance policy. Then you have to complete the Amicable Settlement agreement (provided that both you and the other party/parties involved in the accident are insured by companies participating in the Amicable Settlement program and that there is only property damage), and finally call the Road Traffic Police to file a report.

Coverage begins on the next business day after the completion and payment of the insurance policy, at 12:00 p.m.

Automobile liability insurance is valid for 30 days after the renewal due date, even if the premium hasn’t been paid.

If your car is involved in an accident, it is still covered against the risks stated in your contract, regardless of who is driving it, provided of course that that person has a driver’s license. However, it is advisable to keep in mind that most insurance companies require that you state the main and secondary drivers of every insured vehicle.

From the moment the insurance company receives the termination request and until the end of the period of coverage for which you have paid premiums, it is obliged to return the unearned premiums
